FAMILY WINEMAKERS OF CALIFORNIA PRESENTS “TASTING 2010” March 14. At this 2nd annual event you can taste over 800 wines and meet more than 200 winemakers. SAN DIEGO LATINO FILM FESTIVAL March 11-21. The 17th annual San Diego Latino Film Festival has developed into one of the largest and most well-respected Latino film festivals in the country. Over 175,000 people have attended during the past few years and over 2,000 features and short films from across Latin America and the United States have been screened. ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE AND FESTIVAL March 14. 30th annual event includes parade with over 150 entries traveling up Fifth Avenue from Laurel to Upas Street at 11 am. Irish Festival in Balboa Park (Sixth Avenue and Maple Street) runs from 10 am to 5 pm and features entertainment on two stages with Irish folk singers along with Irish step dancers, Irish crafts, food booths, celtic village, beer garden and a kid zone with rides. THE FLOWER FIELDS March 1–May 9. A 50-acre rainbow of blooming Ranunculus flowers thrill freeway passers. The season is short (approximately March through May) with the greatest display in early to mid-April. Pathways take you up the gently sloping fields, where most people stand in silence, taking in the abundant flowers and gazing at the Carlsbad coastline. A large tent serves as the hospitality center gift shop offering a rich array of blooming plants to take home, souvenir cups, tote bags, clothing and packages of the Ranunculus corms to plant in your own garden. $5-10. JOHN LEGUIZAMO DIARY OF A MADMAN March 4-14. Funnyman Leguizamo brings his new autobiographical one-man-show to La Jolla.
