SDCA Gala
The San Diego Concierge Association got into the holiday spirit at their annual gala on December 16. Members arrived at Barona Valley Ranch Resort dressed to impress. Barona hosted the members in their ballroom with cocktails and a variety of appetizers and entrees to satisfy every pallet. After dinner the new board members for 2008 were announced and then the dancing began. A great night filled with laughter and excitement.

 Macy's Event
Where Magazine helped concierges kick-off the holiday season with one of our biggest events of the year on November.28. The night began at Dussini Mediterranean Bistro where they served unlimited beer, wine and mojitos, along with gourmet hors d'oeuvres like prawn skewers, eggplant fromage and heirloom crostinis. Goldfield Stage provided transportation to Macy's for more wine and lite appetizers from Panda Inn. Guests raced around the store on a shopping scavenger hunt and the winner received a $100 gift card to Macy's. The evening ended with a bang at the Marriott Gaslamp Quarter's popular rooftop bar Altitude with champagne raspberry mojitos and their signature drink the solartini, served along with chicken satays and ahi tartar. The night concluded with prize giveaways and goodie bags for all concierges.

SDCA Meeting at La Costa Resort
La Costa Resort and Spa hosted the San Diego Concierge Association's meeting on October 15. The evening began with passed appetizers and wine by BlueFire Grill. Later, concierges were taken on guided tours of the resort, including a visit to La Costa's relaxing spa and treatment rooms. Concierges also viewed the resort’s new Kidtopia, a state-of-the-art center for kids.

 WHERE Magazine and Roppongi Dinner
WHERE Magazine hosted a concierge event on October 2, with Roppongi Restaurant and Sushi Bar in La Jolla. Concierges were treated to wine, beer and Roppongi's sumptuous Asian fusion tapas. Favorites of the night were the Polynesian crab stack, Mongolian shredded duck quesadilla, baked flat bread with warmed curry hummus dip, and grilled miso portabello mushroom. Roppongi impressed the concierges with so many tapas that people had to struggle to make room for dessert—Roppongi's famous Tahitian banana dessert and English toffee pudding!

 SDCA Affiliate Mixer at The Dana
The Dana on Mission Bay hosted the San Diego Concierge Association's Affiliate Dinner on September 13. Affiliates and SDCA members mingled with cocktails in hand while overlooking The Dana's picturesque harbor. As the sun went down, everyone headed indoors to the Firefly Restaurant for dinner. The restaurant's Southern-inspired dinner was a delicious preparation enjoyed by all.

 WHERE Magazine Event at Osetra and Exclusive Collections
WHERE Magazine hosted a concierge event on August 22, with Osetra the Fishhouse and Exclusive Collections Gallery. The evening kicked off at Osetra where concierges enjoyed sampling food such as oysters Rockefeller, Maryland crab cakes and sushi while sipping wine and mingling. Exclusive Collections Gallery kindly hosted an array of desserts and champagne while concierges enjoyed viewing the fine art gallery.

 SDCA Affiliate Appreciation Dinner
The SDCA affiliate members were honored by the association board members at Island Prime Metro Steaks and Seafood on August 20. The evening began with cocktails and appetizers waterside in private cabanas at C Level. Everyone enjoyed breathtaking views of downtown San Diego as the sun set before moving inside to Island Prime for dinner. With a selection of either free range chicken breast, prime rib or grilled wild Alaskan salmon, Island Prime impressed everyone. The best part of the night, however, was the to-die-for mud pie with spiced candied almonds and chocolate ganache.

 Ivy Hotel Grand Opening Party
The Ivy Hotel welcomed hotel industry personnel last month to one of the hottest parties of the summer at their newly opened Eden Rooftop bar. Concierges and other industry guests mingled while enjoying a sampling of celebrity chef Damon Gordon's whimsical restaurant creations. Guests sipped on signature cocktails from the Ivy's creative bartenders, lounged poolside in rooftop cabanas and enjoyed the city views, complete with mermaid sightings in the rooftop pool.

 The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego showcased its newest cultural attraction, the recently completed downtown expansion, to the hospitality industry on Feb. 1. Concierges viewed various galleries and savored tasty hors d’oeuvres at a private reception before heading across the street to TNT (Thursday Night Thing).

 The February SDCA meeting was held at Whiskey Girl in the Gaslamp Quarter. The popular bar and restaurant hosted concierges in their intimate Lounge at Whisky Girl.
